The Beauty of 28°N Emerald: Global Media Discovers New Adventures in Guizhou’s Caves

On November 5, as part of the “Explore Colorful Guizhou, Experience Beautiful China” media tour, journalists visited the Shuanghe Cave National Geopark in Suiyang to explore the mysterious wonders of "Asia's Longest Cave."

Over 20 journalists from 14 media outlets, including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television (CCTV), Macau Daily News, South Korea’s Seoul Economic News, Spain’s EFE News Agency, Sweden’s Nordic Times, Hungary’s World China, and others, visited Shuanghe Cave to learn about the cave's resources, innovative development, and the creation of cultural and tourism experiences.

Recent scientific surveys show that Shuanghe Cave, with 115 interconnected entrances, now stretches 437.1 kilometers, making it the third-longest cave in the world and the longest in Asia.

Since the late 1980s, Shuanghe Cave has been the focus of 23 international collaborative scientific expeditions. Researchers have discovered numerous geological relics, ancient fossils, and cave-dwelling organisms, providing valuable research materials for the study of cave geology, the environment, and biodiversity.

Shuanghe Cave is also known as the "World's Longest Dolomite Cave" and the "World's Largest Gypsum Cave." Its vast system features unique geological landscapes, with a complex cave structure that includes both wet and dry chambers. These chambers are interconnected, and the cave walls are adorned with diverse and stunning patterns. The crystal-clear green waters and the breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites inside are truly majestic, earning the cave the nickname "Karst Natural Cave Museum."

“The interior of Shuanghe Cave is extremely well-preserved, maintaining its original features intact. The tourism activities around the cave are also fresh and engaging, offering visitors a wide variety of experiences,” said Nagy Wang Viktor, a reporter from Hungary’s The World and China magazine.

In recent years, Shuanghe Cave National Geopark has leveraged its resources to introduce innovative tourism models, such as "Cave + Music," "Cave + Sports," "Cave + Poetry," and "Cave + Educational Experiences." These have helped transform the cave into a signature "Guizhou Classic." Suiyang County is also pushing forward the development of an "Eco-Tourism Circle" centered around Shuanghe Cave, aiming to create a world-class tourism destination known as the "Emerald of 28°N Latitude."

The “Explore Colorful Guizhou, Experience Beautiful China” media tour is organized by the All-China Journalists Association and the Publicity Department of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committe and spans five days. During the tour, the media delegation visited various sites across Guizhou, including Meitan Tea Sea in Zunyi, the Zheng’an Guitar Cultural Industry Park, Shuanghe Cave National Geopark, the Huangguoshu Tourism Area in Anshun, Huajiang Gorge Bridge, Bailinhe Bridge Museum, Wengjing Village in Guiyang, and others. The journalists explored Guizhou’s economic and social development, transportation infrastructure, ecological civilization, and rural vitalization, witnessing the practical implementation of Chinese path to modernization in the province.
