明洪武十四年（1381），朱元璋發(fā)動“平滇之役”。一條橫貫貴州，連通多省的西南邊陲通道由此修建，形成湘黔驛道、滇黔驛道、川滇黔驛道、川黔驛道與黔桂驛道5條主要對外交通干線。

In 1381, Zhu Yuanzhang, the first Ming emperor, launched a military campaign to defeat the last of the Yuan Dynasty military in Yunnan. Therefore, a southwestern passage that traversed Guizhou and connected multiple provinces was constructed, forming the 5 major transportation routes: Hunan-Guizhou, Yunnan-Guizhou, Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou, Sichuan-Guizhou, and Guizhou-Guangxi.

 

而貴州也因此成為戰(zhàn)略要地，被譽為“滇楚之鎖鑰，蜀粵之屏障”。20余萬明軍屯駐于驛道沿線，在貴州留下獨具特色的屯堡文化印記。

As a result, Guizhou became a strategic stronghold, historically referred to as the “key to Yunnan and Hunan” and the "barrier between Sichuan and Guangdong.” Over 200,000 Ming soldiers were stationed along the passage, leaving behind a distinctive legacy of Tunbao culture in Guizhou.

 

彼時，驛道沿線集市如云、往來不息，不同思想、地域文化相互碰撞交融，形成了多元又包容的通道文化。鎮(zhèn)遠(yuǎn)作為湘黔滇大道要塞，正是這種通道文化的縮影之一。明清兩代，中國十大商幫十六省商人來到鎮(zhèn)遠(yuǎn)，先后在此筑就“八大會館”，見證沿河要道的經(jīng)濟、貿(mào)易發(fā)展。也有文人、道士、僧侶紛紛來此修筑，留下書院、寺廟等文化遺產(chǎn)景觀。

At that time, markets along the passage were thriving. Various ideas and regional cultures merged there, forming a diverse and inclusive corridor culture. Zhenyuan, as a key fortress on the Hunan-Guizhou-Yunnan route, is a microcosm of the corridor culture. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, businessmen, scholars, Taoists and monks came to Zhenyuan and built cultural heritage sites such as academies and temples. Standing by the Wuyang River, these sites have witnessed the cultural and economic development along this vital river route.

 

無論從軍事的角度抑或從穩(wěn)定社會、發(fā)展經(jīng)濟的角度，貴州都有著無可替代的區(qū)位優(yōu)勢。通道文化的形成，既是貴州的區(qū)位優(yōu)勢與自然環(huán)境使然，更是出于長期歷史發(fā)展的積淀。

From both a strategic perspective and in terms of social stability and economic development, Guizhou’s geographical advantages are irreplaceable. The formation of the corridor culture is not only a result of Guizhou’s geographical location and natural environment, but also the accumulation of long-term historical development.
